Testimonials

“I’m excited to share that I had the privilege of presenting my independent research project at the annual Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) convention this summer! Speaking to an audience of psychologists, graduate students, and psychology enthusiasts was an incredible experience. One of the highlights was meeting and connecting with influential figures in psychological theory, something I could only dream of before this convention.
While I’ll spare you the details of my notebook scribbles, I’d like to share two key takeaways that left a lasting impression:
1) Finding Passion through Exploration
To discover our true passions, we need to explore a range of interests, even those that seem unrelated. It’s in the process of exploration that we find value in these interests, weaving them together into something meaningful—our passion. Every exploration gives us versatile experiences that not only shape our personal growth but also develop the mental agility needed in an ever-changing world.
2) The Value of Personal Experience in Research
Whether we’re researchers, professionals, or enthusiasts, there’s always room for personal experience in our work. We shouldn’t shy away from drawing on our lived experiences when contributing to our fields. Our experiences can inspire research questions and enrich psychological frameworks, leading to honest and impactful results. However, it’s important that personal opinions don’t close discussions; instead, they should open doors to new perspectives and encourage others to engage with unfamiliar ideas.
I left the convention feeling inspired and more motivated than ever to explore social science using the value of personal experience.”
