Registration for the CPA’s National Convention is now open.

Guided by the recommendations in the CPA’s 2018 Response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of Canada’s Final Report, the CPA would like to offer members and affiliates of the CPA, who self-identify as Indigenous, a complimentary registration to attend our upcoming 81st Annual National Convention in Montreal, QC, May 28-30, 2020, at Le Westin Montréal. To secure your complimentary registration, please complete the waiver form and send it to convention@cpa.ca.

 

General Registration Guidelines

Early Bird Registration Period Mid-January 2020 – April 30, 2020, 23:59 EST
Regular Registration Period May 1, 2020 – May 27, 2020, 23:59 EST
On-Site Registration Period May 28 – May 30, 2020, 23:59 EST

Registering to Attend the Convention

Registration is done on-line by visiting the Convention webpage here and clicking the “Register Now” button. 

Registration fee includes:

  • Access to all scientific sessions, excluding pre-convention professional development (PD) workshops
  • Access to the CPA 2020 Tradeshow
  • Opening Ceremony
  • Awards Ceremony and Presidential Reception
  • Convention material, delegate bag, etc.

Accepted Methods of Payment and Receipts

We accept payments in the form of Visa and/or MasterCard or personal cheque prior to convention and only accept Visa, Mastercard and cash for on-site registrations.
**Please note: Your registration is not confirmed until payment is received by the CPA.

Receipts are sent automatically to your email address upon completion of your on-line registration.

Pre-Convention Workshop Registration and Cancellation

  • Participants can register solely for a Pre-Convention PD Workshop
  • The CPA Convention Department reserves the right to cancel any Pre-Convention PD Workshop due to low registration. In the event this should happen, registrants can register for another workshop or be reimbursed their payment.
  • Registration for Pre-Convention PD Workshops can be found here.
  • CPA Members and Affiliates who have purchased both a Pre-Convention PD Workshop Registration and a Full Convention Registration are eligible for a 10% discount. Email us at convention@cpa.ca.

Companion Registration

There is a special rate for companions of presenting authors only (cannot be a psychologist, student in psychology, member, honorary life member, or student affiliate of the CPA or a provincial psychological association, nor a presenter at the convention).

Registration rate for companions falling into any of these categories is $100.00/day (plus applicable taxes).

Due to limited space and seating, companions may only attend sessions on the day for which their ticket is.

Online Registration

There is only one possible way to register online for the CPA 2020 Convention and that is through the CPA 2020 convention registration system at https://convention.cpa.ca/registration/

Onsite Registration

While on-site registration will be available at the Convention, it is recommended that delegates register well in advance to take advantage of the reduced registration rates.  On-site registration will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Delegate Badges

Registered delegates and companions must wear and display their name badges at all times during the convention. They are not transferable under any circumstances.

Pre-Convention Workshop Registration Fee
50% refund until March 15th, 2020
25% refund until April 23rd, 2020
No refunds as of April 24th, 2020
Convention Registration Fee
50% refund until March 15th, 2020
25% refund from March 16th through April 30th, 2020
No refunds as of May 1st, 2020

Exceptions to the above policies will be reviewed on a case by case situation. Please contact the CPA Convention office.

Insurance

The registration fee does not include delegate insurance against accidents, sickness, cancellation, theft, property damage or loss. Delegates are advised to take out adequate personal insurance.

General Questions

Convention Accessibility

The CPA is committed to ensuring that our convention is fully accessible to all persons. If you have a specific accessibility requirement, please contact the CPA’s Convention Program Manager (convention@cpa.ca) or +1-888-472-0657 ext. 330. before May 1, 2020, and every attempt will be made to accommodate your request.

Visas and Letters of Invitation

The CPA does not issue “Letters of Invitation” for VISA purposes but will provide letters confirming that one’s submission has been accepted for presentation at the convention. Requests for such letters should be sent to convention@cpa.ca.

Certificates of Attendance

We are unable to give letters attesting to attendance of the Annual Convention since we do not monitor session attendance.

Travel Grants

Unfortunately, there is no funding available in the form of travel grants to attend the CPA’s 2020 Convention.

On-Site Meals

The CPA does not provide meals for the overall convention participant. There are certain events or programs in which food may be available. These sessions will be noted in the Convention “At-A-Glance” program.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers play a key role in the success of any convention and the overall experience of attendees. We welcome enthusiastic volunteers to assist with room management, wayfinding and registration, among other things.

Laptops in Presentation Rooms

Each room will be provided with a laptop unless otherwise specified. For example, the rooms in which the “conversation sessions” will be taking place will not have a laptop as no AV is permitted for these types of sessions.
