Welcome to the CPA’s 86th Annual General Meeting and National Convention!

One of the most exciting times of the year for the Canadian Psychological Association is our Annual Convention. This is a time for those involved in psychology in Canada to come together, learn from each other, envision future projects, and forge new and deepen existing relationships. That we get to do so in beautiful locations across the country each year makes it extra special. St. John’s, in beautiful Newfoundland and Labrador, is a wonderful setting for the events of the next several days.

With a full day of pre-convention events and three days of convention programming that spans 34 subject matter areas and multiple presentation types, the CPA’s Convention features incredible breadth and depth of psychological information. We hope that you will enjoy the many presentations, exhibits, and opportunities to socialize and network.

One of my favourite experiences at a CPA Convention is meeting and learning from students, some of whom may be attending their first CPA Convention, or even their very first convention. To all of our attendees, whether you are attending and/or presenting for the first time or you have attended many CPA conventions, welcome. And if you see me or any of the CPA Board of Directors over the next few days, please come say hello. We are delighted that you are here.

I would like to thank the phenomenal members of CPA’s Convention Committee whose thoughtful planning and dedicated efforts have made this convention possible, as well as the incredible plenary speakers, section featured speakers, and all presenters, exhibitors, and sponsors. I would also like to thank our Section Chairs, Review Coordinators, and Reviewers for their expertise and efforts in ensuring an exciting scientific program. Thank you to each of our committee chairs and committee members at the CPA who volunteer their time throughout the year. And, thank you to each and every one of our members.

Finally, a very special thank you to the staff at CPA’s Head Office for their dedication and expertise throughout the year as well as during this special time when we all come together.

May you have a wonderful time learning, sharing, and exploring over the next few days in beautiful St. John’s!

Warmly,
Dr. Anita Gupta, Ph.D., R.Psych, C.Psych. CPA President (2024–2025)
